The Band Toto
Toto is an American rock band. They formed in 1977 and are based in Los Angeles. The band lineup consists of Steve Lukather, David Paich, Joseph Williams, John Pierce, Robert “Sput” Searight, Dominique “Xavier” Taplin, and Warren Ham. Some of their greatest hits include ‘Say It’s a Love Song’ and ‘As I Am.’ Toto’s music is a mixture of progressive rock and progressive metal, but the group has a unique sound that is uniquely American.
The first Toto toilet was created in 1917, and it became a Japanese icon soon after. Although it was the first toilet to feature a heated seat and electronic bidet, these features were not introduced until the ’80s, when Toto began producing more advanced versions of their stalls. The resulting improved performance was a cultural sensation and Toto toilets quickly became standard in Japanese homes. Today, Toto is one of the most popular brands of bathroom fixtures in Japan.
Toto’s popularity didn’t stop there. The band’s eponymous debut album was an instant hit, and it was followed by a series of critically acclaimed and commercially successful albums. The band’s songs such as ‘Hold the Line’ and ‘Rosanna’ quickly became international hits, making them one of the most successful music groups of the era. But in 2008, lead singer Steve Lukather announced his departure from Toto, and the remaining members eventually dissolved the band.
Toto’s recent reunion in 2010 sparked a massive buzz in the music industry, as fans eagerly anticipated the band’s return to the stage. After a few years of silence, the group announced a European tour in June 2010. However, the concert was short-lived and the money raised by the band’s tour was used to pay off the medical bills of Mike Porcaro, who had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Since the singer’s health has declined over the years, Toto has been forced to stow away.
In the summer of 2010, Toto reformed in a limited way. The band performed on a European tour, but sadly, this tour did not feature Mike Porcaro. Despite being one of the most notable Toto reunions in the last decade, he was recently diagnosed with ALS, and is now unable to participate in the band. While this short-lived tour benefited him, the band’s name and legacy still live on.
In the summer of 2010, Toto reformed for a European tour, and subsequently announced that they would play a few songs. The tour was intended to benefit the band member Mike Porcaro, who had recently been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. But the band dissolved again, and Porcaro is no longer a part of Toto. Nevertheless, the rest of the band remains active, and the group’s fans are still able to enjoy their music.
