Travel is basically the movement of humans between various different geographical locations. Travel can sometimes be one-way, between places that are within a country, state or even continent, and can also be round trip or multiple way. There are many different ways to travel and they include land, sea, air, and even water. The world has got many ports all around it, from which you can travel to another place. Some examples of these ports are Paphos, Turkey; Rhodes, Greece; Saint Petersburg, Florida; Cancun, Mexico; Miami Beach, Florida; Copenhagen, Denmark; Hyderabad, India; Bangkok, Thailand; Christchurch, New Zealand; and Port Louis, Louisiana.
So what can we learn from travelling? Firstly, it shows that there is life beyond the four corners of our earth, which is one reason why travel has become such a popular hobby and recreational activity. Travelling allows us to interact with other people from different backgrounds and cultures, allowing for a more diverse experience than what we could experience if we stayed in our own homes. The most obvious benefits of travel include the ability to let us explore and discover new lands and cultures.
Secondly, travel teaches us important lessons about history, such as the history of travelling through Europe in the past hundred years or so. We can all remember the headlines from the newspapers, about how countries like Germany and France were virtually cut off from the rest of the world and had to develop an entirely different infrastructure to ensure their survival when they were invaded by the Third Reich. Also, most of us have heard about the pillars of World War II, which were, in fact, very similar to the pillars of the current tourism industry today. However, it was not just Germany that was hit by the German onslaught, as almost half of Western Europe was destroyed. These days, almost half of the European Union’s citizens travel within its borders and this includes countries like Ireland, Portugal and Spain.
Thirdly, travelling lets us learn new things about travelling in general, including the types of travel we should be doing, the best ways to get from one destination to another and the best places to stay while on your trip. When we travel, we are exposed to a range of different cultural events and sights around the world, which can leave us craving for more of the same. Furthermore, as travellers, we will find that each country has something unique to offer the tourist, including its own unique culture and traditions. Therefore, when planning your next trip, it’s important to research the country, to see what it offers the tourist.
Fourthly, travel teaches us about the different places along our travel route. Many of the largest cities in the world can be a little dull when you are stuck in a crowded airport, whereas smaller cities have much more to offer you, especially if you choose to go on a sightseeing or leisure trip instead. Therefore, it is important to investigate the travel route before booking your tickets, in order to ensure that you will be able to see and experience everything that you want to. Once you have done this research, then you can start planning your holiday, ensuring that you choose a place that suits your interests the most.
Lastly, understanding travel meaning lets us understand why travelling can sometimes be complicated. When you go on holiday, you do so in order to relax yourself and unwind. However, travelling can sometimes feel like it’s pulling you in many different directions. Therefore, it’s important that you understand the different travelling experiences that you can have – leisure, educational and business. When you can identify the kind of traveller you are, then you will be able to plan your holiday effectively and fully understand travel meaning.
